The Winners of the Remix Competition

We have had a massive amount of entries! Thanks to all who participated, it was great to hear so many different takes on the original. Congratulations to Terranaut for taking first place with his brilliant drum and bass remix and to Justin Carto, Daniel Bazz and Tim Crane, who threw down a mixture of acid house, breaks, and deep tech. A special mention also goes to Maryann and Michael Tedstone who created an epicly moving and cinematic arrangement of the original.

You can listen to the 4 remix winners below, and head to the Fixd Soundcloud pages (1 and 2) to hear the whole lot – there’s plenty of bangers there to treat your eardrums!

The This Is Not Electro “The Remixes” CD is scheduled for release late JULY/AUG. Keep up to date with Fixd via Twitter, Facebook or their webpage.

Original track:

Do You Like My Pussy?

Fresher than your local green grocers and cheekier than a beach volley contest, this cranking little electro house gem will get you smiling in time with you arse shaking.

Cutee B & Carolina Cartel have put together a proper cheeky fun dancefloor tune that still manages to bang hard.

Such a simple little question…

Listen Loud!

You Can’t Dance

In just 4 short days the filthy kings of dancefloor destruction will be bringing their first long playing release to your ears.

Fixd’s “You Can’t Dance” will hit iTunes, MySpace Music, and several other on line retailers this Friday, April 30th, and will feature six of their freshest, biggest thumpers for the measely amount of five dollars!

Tracks you can expect to be pumping through your car speakers or headphones are:

-This Is Not Electro

-Electrode

-A New World

-Menace

-Hurricane

-Like It Or Not

A reliable source has also suggested all six of these party tunes will be played as part of a very special all original set that Diesel Laws and Danny Silver (Fixd) will be ripping out at their upcoming Sydney show on May 28 for Lightsounds RecordsCircuit Breaker compilation album launch (featuring “This Is Not Electro”) at Darlinghurt’s Q Bar.

News Flash! – Fixd to Get UK Club Rotation!

The bass-droppping duo at Fixd have been approached by rad UK DJ and promoter Bomber Kid of The Groove Syndicate to spin their filthy piece of electro “Hurricane”.

The Groove Syndicate are Bomber Kid, DJ Lo Dose, Trickee Rolla, and Robbie Shanks, and have a number of residencies across England, dropping all kinds of ass shaking stuff. Their upcoming show is at The Royal in Derby, and it’s bound to be an absolute cracker! Be sure to check them out on Facebook.

Fixd definitely seem to be approaching the crest of one monster of a wave in 2010, as along with this fresh exposure on UK dancefloors, the boys have recently had interest from L8 Night Records and Mizumo Music in the USA, HVB Records in South Africa, and Lightsound Records right here in Australia – not to mention the solid relationship developing between the Fixd/Hellectric and Luxxe/Gradient crews in Melbourne!

Written Worlds is Here!

Being responsible for sorting the venue and door list, Hellectric has helped to put together the first of many gigs…

The brains that brought you Freelancer Unplugged and Inspiration Unplugged have pinned down the details for their upcoming Written Worlds event. If you’re a writer this is tailor made for you, but if you’re any kind of creative type or freelancer of any capacity this will be a fantastic place to learn great tips and meet new people and business contacts.

Places are definitely limited and are filling up fast so get your name in ASAP!

Silver Says: 2010 Albums To Get Excited About

Twenty-ten is going to be a massive year in the universe of beats, bass, and big big albums. Here are a few that are filling me with butterflies of anticipation…

Daft Punk
Clubs and subs of the world could quite possibly be treated to not one, but two full length releases from these robot funksters. With the remake/sequel of the amazing “Tron” movie due out this year, Daft Punk have been commissioned to produce the soundtrack. As if that wasn’t enough, though, a fourth studio album is in the pipeline! Will this next chapter of of Daft tuneage be in conjunction with their much talked about but unconfirmed 2010 world tour? I guess we’ll have to wait to find out but one thing’s for for – I can’t wait!

Justice
The dance floor destructing Frenchies that brought you bangers like “Phantom” and “Waters of Nazareth” on their debut album “+” have locked themselves back in the studio to work on their sophomore release. So much so that even after securing a spot in DJ Mags top 100 DJ’s for 2009 they were totally unreachable for comment. I think this is going to be huge people!

Deadmau5
Joel Zimmerman’s had just a little hype around his rodent-headed alter ego of late. We’ve been treated to a bevvy of shows around the globe, as well as his two full length releases “Random Album Title” and “For Lack of a Better Name”. Deadmau5 is currently working on his first ‘proper’ artist album, with a few surprise collaborations in store for our eager ears. Just hurry up and give us that uplifting electro goodness already please.

Bomb the Bass
Even if all you know about these indie-acid-hip hop champs is that wonderful piece of bliss that is “Bug Powder Dust”, make sure you lay your hands (or your hard drive) on this year’s output. Their upcoming album is being produced by Brazilian techno master Gui Boratto, whose own 2009 album “Take My Breath Away” was an absolute masterpiece.
